My story · Skye Malin

BEFORE I COULD CREATE HEALTHY LOVE, I HAD TO LEARN TO COME HOME TO MYSELF.

My path to love was not a straight one.

I've experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and homelessness. More than two decades ago, I was also run over by a car and nearly lost my life.

I've known what it feels like to lose my sense of safety, question my worth, and become disconnected from my own voice. I've also known what it means to rebuild—to find your way forward when the life you knew has been fundamentally changed.

But those experiences do not define me.

What changed my life was learning that I could reclaim the parts of myself I had lost, rebuild my relationship with myself, and choose a different way forward.

When I turned 30, I made a decision: I would no longer live from the belief that my past determined my future.

Before I went looking for romantic love again, I began the deeper work of coming home to myself. I created my own process for understanding what my experiences had taught me to believe, separating those beliefs from what was actually true, and releasing the patterns that no longer belonged in the life I wanted to create.

Only then was I ready to approach love differently.

And that readiness led to an unconventional experiment:

100 dates in one month.

I didn't just want to find someone. I wanted to experience dating differently—with curiosity, confidence, intention and a willingness to have fun with the journey.

This wasn't simply a dating experiment. It was living evidence of what became possible when I changed the relationship I had with myself.

And then came #101.

With just hours before both of our dating-site trials expired, Scott and I found each other again.

We had connected on a different dating website two years earlier, but the timing wasn't right for either of us.

This time, it was.

We were both ready for our Big Love.

At the same time, I'd spent more than three decades building a career around connection.

Through Trueheart, the creative agency I co-founded with Scott, I've worked with global brands, celebrities, changemakers and purpose-driven organizations to create partnerships that connect people to stories, ideas and causes that matter.

I've spent my professional life understanding what moves people—what creates connection, inspires trust, changes perspectives and turns moments into something bigger.

Over time, I began to recognize something profound: many of the principles of connection I'd spent my career understanding could also transform the way we relate to ourselves and one another.

That realization became part of the foundation for Here For Love.

My story is not a clinical credential, and Here For Love is not therapy. My lived experiences simply gave me a deeply personal understanding of worth, relationships, resilience and love. Combined with decades of professional experience, personal reflection and the lessons I've learned along the way, they led me to create a framework for transformation.

My love story with Scott became 100 Mr. Wrongs—a book, television series and feature film in development—and it taught me something that became central to Here For Love:

Finding love isn't just about finding the right person. It's about becoming ready to create the right kind of love.

Today, my greatest partnership is the life and love I've built with Scott and our children.

And the work I've done in my own life has become the work I now want to share with others.

Because I believe we're all here for love.

And sometimes, the journey isn't about finding it.

It's about coming home to it.
